It was a pleasant evening at the Red Rocks! Thousands of people, including kids of all ages, were enjoying a fantastic presentation from our grant opening Rufus Wainwright and main musician Pink Martini. The Colorado Symphony added

beautifully to all the operas’ artists. Rufus performance alternated between his Steinway and center stage. Covers and originals songs including lyrics whiten for his husband and special ones made the audience standing ovation. With sense of humor and his tender singing voice he interacted with the public pocking fun at himself. “Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk” was my favorite song of the evening. He describes this personality that goes a little overboard with everything in an involving melody and sexy voice. Pink Martini started their set with a very energizing instrumental tune, bringing China Forbes for the second song, “Amado Mio”, with a little more tropical feeling. Impressive performance by Thomas Lauderdale, one of the founders of the band 20 years ago, with his incredible talent on the piano. Their performance made me travel around the world with lyrics from east to west on the globe. Portuguese, Japanese, French, and Czech just to mention some made the night exciting and eclectic. During the Turkish song, China, Pink Martini main vocal invited Turkish people to join them at the stage singing and dancing. They were able to mix humor, romance, classical and contemporary music to give the public an evening full of join and fun. It was a breathtaking and remarkable event bought by stunning artists, perfect weather, and the incredible Red Rocks view.
